...at our school
We want you to feel at ease when coming to class, so here are a few things to get you prepared.
- All equipment is supplied for the hatha yoga classes. See information below for what you should bring for the hot yoga classes.
- Arrive 15 minutes before class start, particularly if it's your first time with us, to register, sort out payment, meet the teacher, and to settle down!
- If you do arrive late, please still come into class.
- Wear loose comfortable clothing or gym wear that you can stretch out in.
- We have a changing room for your convenience and a storage area for your bag.
- We practice barefoot, so leave your shoes outside on the shoe rack.
- For best results, leave a 2 hour digestion period after eating a large meal and 1 hour for a light meal before coming to class.
- Drinking 500ml of water over the hour after a class will have a wonderful cleansing effect on your digestive & internal organs.
- Let the teacher know if you have any health related problems or if you are pregnant - we can suggest modifications to poses to specifically suit you.
- Don't over do it! It can be tempting to push through the pain, fight against the tension - you will learn to release that tension, heal your injuries
and embrace that challenge to get lightness in your postures. It will be difficult at first, but once you find stabilility, you will understand how to grow and extend.
...with hot yoga
You will sweat a lot! This is normal and in fact good for you as it helps to flush out the toxins in your body.
Come to class hydrated - drink plenty of water during the day and/or try drinking a litre of water 1-3 hours before class.
After class, drink a litre of water over the next hour. If you feel a little low on energy after a class, try a good energy drink to replace your body salts, or
have a sugar lolly (or similar) if your blood sugar is low.
What to bring:
A towel, a yoga mat, water bottle (if you want to drink during class). You might want to bring a change of clothing.
